BankVal International ™ is a suite of web services used to validate SWIFT BIC codes against the official SWIFT BIC directory and to validate IBAN numbers in accordance with ECBS standards. It also validates American Bankers Association (ABA) Routing numbers against the Routing Numbers Database.

Validation of SWIFT BICs and IBANs is important because banks can reject transactions and apply a charge if a valid BIC and IBAN are not present.

If an incorrect Routing Number is entered into the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network it is returned and a fee is charged.

To avoid unnecessary bank charges and the costly overhead of manually correcting rejected payments, all bank account details should be validated.
